Gnomes, originally described as earth-dwelling spirits by the Swiss alchemist Paracelsus in the 16th century, evolved into popular garden ornaments in the 19th century, particularly in Germany, where they were believed to protect gardens and bring good luck. Each hand-knit gnome is made of colorful wool yarn remnants by artisans in a Fair-Trade cooperative in Nepal. Each creation has a unique pattern, so no two gnomes are alike! Features weighted base for easy display.
