Hand cast Pewter and hand painted enamel hinged top box The rocking horse in its current form is widely believed to have first appeared in the early 17th century. It was around this time that bow rockers were invented, introducing rocking to the world of toy horses. box is cast from pewter and then gold plated. The rich enamels are applied and the box is fired in a kiln, creating a glass-like finish. The box is then accented with Austrian lead crystal jewels. Beautifully crafted in the style of the famous Russian Imperial court jeweler, Carl Fabergé. 3 1/2" X 3" Tall
