The pelican is an ancient creature, with the fossil record of the pelican lineage having existed for at least 36 million years. There are 8 living species, 3 of which inhabit North America. This ornament is created from copper sheet that is gold plated. It is then hand painted with special enamels and fired in a kiln to create the beautiful and vibrant glass-like finish.
