Germany 1920’s One of the first artificial trees created, Feather Christmas trees originated in Germany in the 1880’s. Crafted from goose feathers, these trees were, in part, a response to growing environmental concerns concerning deforestation associated with the harvest of Christmas trees in Germany. Feather Christmas trees became popular during the early 20th century, and were sold by merchants across the US. Small ornaments were created for the tabletop versions. This grape cluster ornament has lost most of it’s painted finish, but it’s charm is still present. Glass is in perfect condition. In my personal collection for more than 40 years. 2 3/8" Tall x 1 1/2" diameter.
