Some of the most desirable blown glass ornaments were created at the turn of the 20th century through the 1930’s. This ornament is a rare survivor from the 1920’s. Crafted in Germany, these early ornaments were made from thin glass straws—this one is free blown and has the original surface color with red accents. This was done with a mouth atomizer with a water soluble starch based color. Water will remove this coloration, so it is rare to find one is this condition. Early steel crimped cap and thin wire hanger. In my personal collection for more than 40 years. 2 3/8" Tall x 2" diameter.
