The bikes we know today were originally called “safety bikes” They were modeled after the old bone shakers that originated in the 1820’s, but with a couple of key innovations. First, frames continued to improve and get lighter. Second, hard rubber tires were replaced by Dunlop’s pneumatic tires. This handsome sculpture is hand crafted from cast iron. 19" long x 14" Tall x 2 3/4" Wide.
