Florence, Italy The Adventures of Pinocchio was created by Italian writer Carlo Collodi of Florence, Tuscany and published in 1883. Pinocchio was carved by a woodcarver named Geppetto in a Tuscan village. He was created as a wooden marionette, but he dreams of becoming a real boy.
