From the collection of the National Gallery of Art, this elegant cat brooch is adapted from an illustration entitled “Rendezvous des Chats” by Edouard Manet, in Champfleury Les Chats, 1870. The scene features an amorous encounter between two cats circling each other on a city rooftop. Gold over pewter.
