Although it has been reported that Northern African opal was used to make tools as early as 4000 BC, the first published report of gem opal from Ethiopia appeared in 1994. This elegant pendant features a facetted solid opal cabochon from the Welo district of Ethiopia. Welo opals were discovered in 2008 and have been found to be the most durable of all opal gems. Set in sterling silver and presented on an 18" sterling chain. Pendant 3/4" including bale.
