The Lithopane (Vision in Stone) was conceived in France in 1827, when it was discovered that a remarkable three-dimensional image could be produced by illuminating a carving of varied thickness of porcelain. Production of these works of art nearly vanished by the late 1800’s. This modern lamp is crafted using the original process to create this elegant lamp. Hand crafted in California. On this piece, colored ceramic glaze is fired onto the back, diffusing through when lit. 9.25"H x 4.75"W x 3.75"Base. With 25w bulb, 6ft cord w/switch. Lamp frame is plated cast metal.
