In art glass production, the vats of liquid glass are emptied at the end of the day. The ladlers typically scoop the molten glass out of the furnace and let it slowly cool down. Once it has fully cooled it is then broken into chunks that are called cullet. Most are much smaller pieces, but these large examples are exceptional.
