Although it has been reported that Northern African opal was used to make tools as early as 4000 BC, the first published report of gem opal from Ethiopia appeared in 1994. This elegant necklace features solid free form opal cabochon from the Welo district of Ethiopia. Welo opals were discovered in 2008 and have been found to be the most durable of all opal gems. Beautifully crafted from fine sterling silver by the noted jewelry designer Charles Albert.
Presented on an 18" sterling silver chain.
