The Peacock is a common name for three members of the pheasant family, Phasianidae. Although these birds are commonly called peacocks, that name is properly applied only to males; females are called peahens. Handcrafted by artisans in a Fair-Trade cooperative in Guatemala by a group of widows and young women who make beaded jewelry and other items. Profits support basic living supplies for elderly widows, education and medical expenses.
