The first Russian nesting doll (matryoshka) was born in 1890 in the workshop "Children's Education" situated in Abramtsevo estate new Moscow. This charming Santa set is hand turned from aged linden wood and then meticulously hand painted and accented with a wood burning technique. A beautiful family heirloom. Set includes Santa, Snow Maiden, Snowman and Christmas Tree.
Largest 7 1/2" T x 3 1/4" diameter.
