The Mermaid in folklore is a supernatural, sea-dwelling creature with the head and upper body of a beautiful woman and the lower body of a fish. Mermaids, in the numerous tales told of them, often foretell the future, sometimes under compulsion and give supernatural powers to human beings. This elegant ornament is intricately hand cast from pewter and then plated with 22k gold. The vibrant enamels are applied and then is fired in a kiln, creating a glass-like finish. The Mermaid is accented with Austrian lead crystal jewels and she holds a golden pearl. A beautiful heirloom ornament that will be enjoyed for generations.
