Germany 1920's One of the first artificial trees created, Feather Christmas trees originated in Germany in the 1880’s. Crafted from goose feathers, these trees were, in part, a response to growing environmental concerns concerning deforestation associated with the harvest of Christmas trees in Germany. The tradition of feather Christmas trees was brought to the United States by German immigrants. Feather Christmas trees became popular during the early 20th century, and were sold by merchants across the US. Small ornaments were created for the tabletop versions. This beautifully preserved pinecone ornament features red and green over a fully silvered glass ornament surface. The ornament features a thin flat band spring steel cap and a beautiful undamaged glass body. In excellent condition. 2 1/2" Long x 1 1/4" diameter.
