Handcrafted from Enamel and Pewter The American Santa Claus figure received its inspiration from the Dutch legend of Sinter Klaas, brought by settlers to New York in the 17th century. St. Nick achieved his Americanized form in 1823 in the poem A Visit from Saint Nicholas more commonly known as The Night Before Christmas by writer Clement Clarke Moore. This charming box is hand crafted from pewter and then gold plated. The elegant enamels are applied, and the box is fired in a kiln, creating a glass-like finish. Set with Austrian glass crystals. 3" x 3"
