Francia Nance
(b. 1969 - Pili, Camarines Sur, Philippines)
Born in the southeastern part of the islands of the Philippines, Francia has been a world traveler her whole adult life, first moving and living in the Gulf State island of Bahrain. After two years, she relocated to Berlin, Germany, living there for 6 years. She then moved to the southeast Asian country of Myanmar (Burma) for two years before moving to the United States. During her travels she visited cultural landmarks and major museums throughout Southeast Asia and Europe. Her most memorable encounters with art where in the Netherlands, frequently visiting the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Since living in the United States she has been a dealer in Fine Art and crafts for more than 20 years.
Her watercolor paintings are the culmination of her travels and experiences - her impressions of the cultures and environments in which she has encountered over the years. Entirely self taught, her paintings showcase her mastery of reducing the image into elements of light and dark, and of creating a sense of place perceived and interpreted by the viewer.
