Hand cast Pewter and hand painted enamel hinged top box Bulldogs have a longstanding association with British culture, and to many the Bulldog is a national icon. During World War II, Bulldogs were often likened to Prime Minister Winston Churchill and his defiance of Germany. The Bulldog Club of England was formed in 1878. The box is cast from pewter and then gold plated. The rich enamels are applied and the box is fired in a kiln, creating a glass-like finish.
