Handcrafted in Seattle, Washington The earliest use of glass floats by fishermen was in Norway in the 1840’s where glass floats were used in the great cod fisheries in Lofoten. By the 1940s, glass had replaced wood or cork throughout the industry. Japan started using the glass floats as early as 1910 and are still in use in some places today. This beautiful art glass table ornament is inspired by those original utilitarian designs. Hand blown by artisans in Washington using recycled glass and ash from Mt. St. Helen’s.
