Route 66 Puzzle Box
Fair Trade Wood Puzzle Box Dimensional Intarsia - Vietnam
The iconic Route 66 was one of the original highways in the US highway system. US 66 was established on November 11, 1926, with road signs erected the following year. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in the US, originally ran from Chicago through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona before terminating in Santa Monica, covering a total of 2,448 miles. It was recognized in popular culture by both the hit song "Get Your Kicks on Route66" and the Route 66 TV series which aired on CBS from 1960 to 1964. In John Steinbeck's classic American novel, The Grapes of Wrath (1939), the road "Highway 66" symbolized escape and loss. This charming box is handcrafted from native sustainable wood by skilled artisans in Vietnam. The decorative lids are created using a technique called Intarsia - a type of marquetry decoration. Each box has a removable ‘key’ that will allow the top to slide open to reveal a finished box inside. Beautifully crafted and finished.
