Antique carved marine ivory netsuke in the form of Bishomon holding a model of a pagoda. Finely carved and finished, circa 1900. Bishamon, is one of the Shichi-fuku-jin (“Seven Gods of Luck”). He is the Buddhist guardian of the north. Bishamon is always depicted as dressed in full armour, and holding a miniature pagoda. He is the protector of the righteous and is the Buddhist patron of warriors. *Note* this item is a restricted trade item and antique that meets the requirements of CITES documentation. 2 1/4” Tall.
