Description Rock Form in Open Field an original oil on linen by Charles Brindley Image size H-37" X W-44" Frame size H-38" X W-45" Charles Brindley lives and maintains a studio in Adairville, Kentucky, a small community 35 miles north of Nashville, Tennessee. Brindley has had three touring exhibitions of his work, Ordered Prospects, Salient Features and Points of Reference, which traveled to museums and art centers in the Southeast and Midwest. A fourth touring exhibition, titled Trace and Transformation began in 2005 and will travel to several national venues through 2006. Charles Brindley's drawings and paintings depict a variety of symbol-laden subjects, including giant deciduous trees, panoramic landscapes, prehistoric ruins, rock formations, architecture and still lifes. His images are highly representational but contain many abstract elements. The Tennessee State Museum presented a major retrospective in 1998 of the artist's career titled Landscape Vision: Works of Charles Brindley 1980-1997. His work has been represented by galleries in numerous cities, including Washington D.C., and New York. Brindley's work appears in public, private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
