Description An original color pencil and graphite drawing on paper by Guy William Koehne of Hopkinsville, Kentucky (1937-2006) Image H-9" X W-12" Frame H-16" X W-20" The vibrant work of this former microbiologist turned artist has been displayed in numerous juried shows throughout the Nation including: Mid-States Art Exhibition at the Evansville Museum of Arts & Science, Appalachian National Drawing Competition in Boone NC., Eight State Annual in Louisville, KY., National Exhibition of prints and drawings, Oklahoma Art Center, Oklahoma City, OK., National Drawing Exhibition, State University College, Potsdam, NY. Purchase awards for his art includes Bardstown Invitational Art Exhibition, Spalding Hall, Bardstown, KY., Mid-America Art Exhibition, Owensboro Museum of Art, Owensboro, KY., Ky. Fried Chicken Exhibition, Speed Art Museum, Louisville, KY., Appalachian National Drawing Competition, Appalachian State University, Boone, NC. Two purchase awards. As an undergraduate student At Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky, he designed the official seal that is still used by the college. He earned a masters degree in molecular biology from Vanderbilt University and taught at Maryville College and the University of Kentucky. He moved to Hopkinsville and became the director of the microbiology department at The Animal Diagnostic Laboratory, now the Breathitt Veterinary Center. In 1981 he left the scientific community to become a full time artist.
