A blue splatter-ware earthenware soup bowl by Neolia Cole. Cole Pottery stamped seal and inscribed "Love Neolia Cole 1-5-87, Sanford, N.C. Time out for a bowl of soup?". Neolia Cole is a 5th generation potter from the Cole family - one of North Carolina's oldest pottery-making families.  She is the daughter of the founder of the Cole Pottery, A. R. Cole (1892-1974) who set up his shop in Sanford N.C. in 1934 after moving his business from Seagrove, N.C. The pottery is still in business and is currently owned by Neolia and her sister Celia who have been making pottery most of their lives. The Cole tradition continues with Neolia's grandson, Kenneth George.
